Abstract
This paper substantiates the relevance of employing optical systems integrated into unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) platforms for terrain monitoring in support of information provision for military operations. The need for the preliminary assessment of UAV optical system parameters based on mission-specific requirements is identified. The technical characteristics of the relevant electro-optical devices are outlined.
The advantages of observing ground-based targets using optical systems mounted on UAVs with gyro-stabilized platforms are demonstrated. The image processing workflow for terrain surveillance is analyzed with respect to threshold illumination levels and target contrast. A methodology for determining the required specifications of UAV optical systems is presented, taking into account flight altitude, observation conditions, and the dimensions of the monitored object. A procedure for calculating the detection range of ground targets using UAV optical systems is developed for both daytime and nighttime scenarios. The applicability of the proposed approach to the selection of UAV equipment suited to specific operational environments is evaluated. Recommendations are provided for improving digital image processing techniques onboard UAVs. Finally, the paper discusses future research directions, particularly in the development of digital image compression (encoding) methods to optimize transmission to ground control stations.
The article puts forward requirements for a model of a complex telecommunication system and presents criteria for selecting formula expressions that will ensure the implementation of the requirements. A methodology for building models of complex inertial systems is proposed, taking into account the criterion of uniqueness of arguments in the formula expression and a new algorithm for the functioning of selection criteria for building a model of a complex system.
