USING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE TO IMPROVE THE EFFICIENCY OF TEACHING COMPUTER NETWORKS TO STUDENTS MAJORING IN COMPUTER SCIENCE

Abstract

The article discusses modern approaches and methods of integrating artificial intelligence tools into the educational process of the discipline “Computer Networks” for students majoring in Computer Science. Particular attention is focused on the use of generative AI models, such as ChatGPT, which can serve not only as an auxiliary means of communication but also as an intelligent interactive assistant that enhances students’ learning experience. The potential of these technologies for developing critical thinking skills, fostering professional competencies, and increasing motivation for self-directed learning is thoroughly analyzed. In addition to their direct application in classroom settings, AI-based systems are considered as instruments for personalizing educational trajectories, creating adaptive learning environments, and ensuring continuous formative assessment with timely, targeted feedback.

The article provides a review of current scientific research on AI integration in technical higher education institutions, highlighting both successful practices and existing challenges. Special emphasis is placed on the need for clear methodological frameworks and regulatory guidelines that ensure the ethical and pedagogically sound use of AI tools. The importance of academic integrity, transparency of algorithms, and the role of the teacher as a mentor and critical mediator in AI-supported learning is emphasized.

Practical recommendations are proposed for teachers and educational institutions on how to effectively integrate AI tools into the structure of coursework and laboratory exercises, including methods to discourage superficial copying of AI-generated answers and strategies to encourage deeper conceptual understanding of networking technologies. The study concludes that the deliberate and structured application of artificial intelligence can significantly increase the flexibility, adaptability, and overall effectiveness of the educational process, supporting the preparation of competitive specialists in computer science.
